By presenting an enlarged view of the types of minute organisms
that play essential parts in the ecology and the physical shaping
of the landscape, this work encourages awareness of the workings
of nature that are ostensibly discrete yet profound in effect. And
of course, by climbing on it, children gain an immediate, hands-on
intimacy with the underlying concepts.
The
organic quality of our sculpture is also part and parcel to the
actual creation of the work. The maquette represented in our photo
serves as a sketch for the basic features and format of the installation.
The final aesthetic is achieved through process and development
in the course of fabrication and construction.
The
scale of the
project is influenced by site selection. The proposed design requires
an area of 30’ x 30.’ However, the design’s fractal
quality lends itself to change in scale without a change in its
essential format. |
